Review: No Tox Box

I received my 'No Tox Box' on Thursday (22nd of May). It is a monthly subscription box where you receive organic food and beauty products. This months theme was NOURISH.

I signed up to the monthly subscription which is $25 a month and you can cancel any time. I ordered it on Tuesday the 20th of May so it was super quick, which is always a bonus!

What I got:

Eco Organics Certified Organic Red Lentils (400g)

Stolen Recipe Ice Tea - Lemon and Lime flavour (300mL)

Goldenberrys 'Berry Power' (3 berries)

Wotnot face wipes (25 wipes) - These have a really strong (and bad) smell, I didn't want to use them on my face!

Tiaki day cream (5mL) - This has a strong eucalyptus smell, it wasn't too overpowering and once it was on my face I couldn't smell it.

Happy Feet -  Foot Patches (2 patches)

Plus some information about the products and a magazine of some sort.

Overall I am really happy with the products. I am looking forward to using the lentils in a curry of some sort as I usually just buy the ones in the can. I am also looking forward to using the Happy Feet patches, they really intrigue me! Apparently they help remove toxins in your body as gravity carries toxins to you feet. Let me know if you want a full review on them and I'll do one for you!

I think I'll continue with my subscription and see how they go - I would prefer some more snack food that I could eat straight away. I'm hoping there will be some more beauty products too!

Seeing as everything in the box is organic I think $25 (no shipping) is a really great price.. It seems like a great way to try new products, I'm excited because 'Loving Earth' is one of the brands they work with and I really want to try some of their products!

After my reports are in for my class I promise to post more - I have a list of things I want to do!!

  • 3 bananas, mashed
  • 1 egg and 1 egg white, whisked
  • 6 dates, chopped

  • 1 TBS of cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup of desiccated coconut

Method:
  1. Combine the wet ingredients into a bowl
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well (I just used a spatula but I think an electric mixer would be better)
  3. Pour the mixture into a lined baking tray
  4. Put it in an 180 degree oven for 15 - 20 mins (mine was in for 18 mins and I had the oven on for about 30 mins before I put it in)

The Slice baking in the oven - it smelt delicious!!

The finished product cooling!!

Mini Carrot Cake / Muffins Recipe

Last Sunday I was inspired to bake some mini carrot cakes after eating a delicious one at Espresso Room (High Street, Northcote). It was so moist and super tasty I had to try and recreate it!

After doing a quick google search I came across Fit Mom Diet's recipe. I made a few changes and this is what I came up with! Oh! And did I mention they are flour less!!

Mini Carrot Cakes / Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of almond meal
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 tbs cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • Handful of walnuts, processed
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup agave nectar
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
  • 2 large carrots, grated

Method:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees
  2. In a small to medium bowl combine all the wet ingredients (eggs, honey, agave nectar, coconut oil)
  3. Put all the dry ingredients (almond meal, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg) into a mixing bowl
  4. Mix the dry ingredients with a wooden spoon
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well (I used an electric mixer)
  6. Add the carrots and walnuts and continue to mix
  7. Place batter into well greased muffin tins (I used both regular and mini sized)
  8. Put the tins into the oven for 10 - 15 minutes, they're ready when a skewer comes out clean
This mixture made 12 regular sized and 8 mini sized 'muffins'.

You could make a frosting I just stirred some low fat Philadelphia cheese, plain chobani, honey and vanilla extract together. It wasn't too bad it was a little rich for my taste.

I forgot to take a picture of the finished product but after I put on the frosting I sprinkled some processed walnuts and shredded coconut.

Let me know if you make them - send me the photo on instagram by #healthylooksgoodonyou

I hope you all enjoyed your Sunday! Back to work tomorrow!
